{Make It Wear It} Esme Top

I just can’t pass up a pretty floral lawn. I saw this print at Joann Fabrics and I knew I would regret not grabbing some. This is a really light weave with dobby texture and is perfect for spring…I might need to knit a cream cardigan just to go with this! Wouldn’t that be so pretty?!

I sewed this as a working muslin as this is my first time sewing with this pattern. The pattern is the Esme Top from Lotta Jandsdotter’s book Everyday Style. It fits like a dream, isn’t a tent (thank you for adding bust darts Lotta!!) and I will be making many more for sure! The great thing about this pattern is that you can make a top (shown), a tunic (coming soon!) as well as a Kaftan (never going to happen).

This book has so many simple patterns that I can totally see being in heavy rotation. I’m excited to try some of the others soon…especially if they turn out as good as this one did!

The only mods I made were subbing a bias binding for the facing because the fabric is semi-sheer and I love little peek-a-boo surprises like a contrasting neckline!

Yay for Sunday Sewing!!
